MERIDIAN DISTRICT  |  GOLDEN GATE AREA COUNCIL

Meridian District serves Scouting units in the greater San Ramon Valley including Alamo, Blackhawk, Danville, Diablo, & San Ramon.
We empower unit leaders, strengthen local programs, and help young people prepare for lives of impact and purpose.

District Overview

Scouting lives and breathes at the unit level. Packs, troops, crews, ships, and posts are the epicenter of the Scouting experience, where young people learn, lead, and grow. Meridian District is a component of the Golden Gate Area Council; we exist to support those units across the greater San Ramon Valley — serving Alamo, Blackhawk, Danville, Diablo, and San Ramon. With 39 units, approximately 2,500 Scouts, and more than 1,000 adult volunteers, Meridian is the largest district in the Golden Gate Area Council by youth served.

While most Scouts and their families interact directly with their unit, the district operates behind the scenes to keep the broader Scouting program strong and coordinated. Meridian provides leader training, advancement support, roundtable programming, recruitment assistance, new unit development, community partnerships, fundraising, and district-level events like Camporee and Cub Day Camps. We also coordinate closely with Golden Gate Area Council to ensure units receive timely communication, administrative support, and access to council resources.

Our role is not to direct unit programs, but to strengthen them. By building capable volunteers, maintaining healthy chartered organization relationships, promoting recognition and retention, and ensuring alignment with council and national standards, Meridian helps create the conditions where units can thrive.

When units are strong, Scouts benefit — and that is our guiding North Star.
