Sea Scouts is Scouting on the water! Deliberately designed as a small and intentional program in Scouting, Meridian is proud to have a Ship in our district, offering unique nautical opportunities for young people who are ready for challenge, responsibility, and real-world skill.
Open to youth ages 14 through 21, Sea Scouts centers on maritime adventure through sailing, powerboating, navigation, seamanship, water safety, and coastal exploration. It’s more than learning knots and steering a vessel. Sea Scouts is about mastering an environment that demands unparalleled focus, teamwork, and trust.
Sea Scouts operate in crews called “ships,” where youth take on leadership roles that mirror real maritime structure. They plan voyages, manage equipment, learn navigation and safety procedures, and take responsibility for one another. Whether cruising the Bay, participating in regattas, or training for extended trips, members gain practical skills that translate well beyond the water, from crisis management and communication to mechanical aptitude and logistical planning.
For families, Sea Scouts offers a unique program combining adventure with discipline and purpose. It attracts young people who are not looking for just another club; desiring an experience that feels meaningful and demanding. If your teen is drawn to the water, thrives on responsibility, or wants to learn skills that set them apart, Sea Scouts provides an environment where confidence is earned and leadership becomes instinctive.
