Venturing is built for teenagers and young adults who want adventure on their terms. Venturing is a co-ed program centered on shared interests, whether that’s outdoor adventure, leadership, service, shooting sports, arts and culture, or something entirely unique to the crew. It is flexible by design, allowing members to shape the program around what excites and challenges them most.
Venturers belong to small, youth-led groups called crews. They elect their own officers, plan their own activities, and set their own pace. Some crews focus on high-adventure experiences like backpacking and climbing. Others emphasize community service, mentorship, or skill development in specialized areas. Adults provide guidance and safety oversight, but direction and ownership come from the members themselves.
For families, Venturing offers a rare combination of independence and structure. It gives older teens a place to grow beyond traditional school activities — to lead, to organize, to test limits responsibly, and to build meaningful peer relationships. It is an ideal place for those looking for challenge, purpose, and the freedom to pursue their interests deeply. Venturing provides a framework where initiative becomes leadership and passion becomes momentum.
