At our member event held this past July our first officers for our Board of Directors were announced. Prior to the announcement members nominated fellow members, nominees confirmed their nomination, and then members* voted. The Board serves as the governing body of F.O.R. overseeing camp contributions, member events, member communications, and member recognition items.
*Baden Powell members, and those under the age of 16, are not eligible to vote.
Your 2026 Board of Directors…
The President is the primary leader of the Friends of Royaneh and helps guide the rest of the Board members. Their primary goal is to ensure F.O.R. lives up to it’s Vision, Mission, and Purpose. They work closely with Camp and Council leadership to ensure the growth of our program, camp, and the greater scouting communities.
Dominic’s first ever camping trip upon joining the BSA program was to Golden Gate District’s Spring Camporee at Camp Royaneh. Camp has always been a special place for him.
Dominic spent three summers on Camp Staff, two in the kitchen and one as the COPE director. More recently he was able to volunteer for a week as Camp Commissioner and reconnected with the camp that he spent so many years visiting.
The VP fills in for the President when necessary but also oversees events and programs for our members.
For the last 26 years, Scott has been the mastermind behind the Royaneh Work Party weekends. During the offseason many current and former staff gather for a weekend of Camp projects. Camp has flourished with Scott’s dedication. He will continue to lead these events and will now have more resources.
When not spending time at camping or preparing for the Work Party weekends, Scott can found roaming Disneyland. And if he’s not physically at Disneyland, he’s sharing tidbits of information with everyone.
They keep the membership records organized, oversee the distribution of member recognition items, and host member recruitment events.
Chip has a huge passion for Camp Royaneh! He spent 9 years on staff and helped lead the 100th Anniversary celebrations! He was, and continues to be, instrumental in the success of the Friends of Royaneh.
Chip will be rolling out some member events as well as some membership drives to get more folks interested in joining. When he’s not doing all things Royaneh, he’s also planning a huge SF Giants opening day celebration; 40th year straight with 200 people participating! Way to go Chip!
A big goal for Chip this year is meaningful events for members, events to encourage non-members to join, and finally ensuring our yearly members renew come summer 2027.
The treasurer will work closely with the Council to ensure the Friends of Royaneh funds are in order. The treasurer also works closely with other Board members for distribution of funds to Camp improvements.
McKenzie has spent the last 17 years on Summer Camp staff, most recently finishing up her 4th summer as the Camp Director. Before she was even in Scouts, she was already spending her summers at camp. She’s continued that tradition by raising her daughter in camp during the summer season.
Besides being the Chief of Camp for the last four years, McKenzie has also working in the Dining Hall, COPE, Trading Post, and even worked Climbing!
The secretary primary record keeper of Board and member meetings. They also oversee see all our communications – social media, newsletters, website, emails.
Maggie has spent the last 10 years on staff at Royaneh! A big goal of hers is to connect the many generations of camp through fun and accessible activities.
Over her 10 years, she’s worked in both crafts – Handicraft and Scoutcraft, COPE, and in Admin overseeing the CIT program as well as building Camp’s amazing social media presence!
The Camp Ranger serves as a non voting advisor to the Board. The Ranger’s insight and knowledge of the property itself and the camp’s attendees will help the Board make the best contributions to camp possible.
Rager Matt has finished his 10th season of Summer Camp all in the Ranger department with the last two being Camp Ranger.
Also serving as a non voting advisor on the Board, this position ensures our Board has a close relationship with Golden Gate Area Council and the greater Scouting movement.
Joe spent many summers working on Camp staff before becoming a professional scouter. He worked in Handicraft, served as the Scoutcraft Director, then Program Director, and finally Camp Director.
Following the Royaneh 100th anniversary celebrations – the gala and in the camp celebration – a small group worked behind the scenes to set the ground work for the Friends of Royaneh. The Launch Committee has passed the torch to our first ever Board of Directors, which were announced at the member celebration on July 18th at Camp Royaneh!
